Christmas Crunch
October 29, 2002
We might be breaking
some sort of rule because it's not even Halloween and we're going to talk
Christmas. Christmas toys to be more specific, and how you may have a
tougher time than normal toy tracking. So what can the bigger crunch at
Christmas be blamed on? The work stoppage out west.
Even though the work
stoppage wasn't too dramatic, the back up of goods being shipped in from
overseas was. Therefore, sitting on the docks waiting to be shipped all
over the country are loads and loads of toys.
What this means is
that toys that are hot may be harder to get. And some toys that are hot
this year are, Yu-Gi-Oh, which is supposed to be a replacement for Pokemon,
and for girls the hot toy is anything Barbie Rapunzel.
Staff at the Waterloo
Super Target say they haven't been informed one way or the other about
having a shortage of toys. But the mere thought of it could be a nightmare.
So the best advice is to shop early since there's no telling if the shortage
will affect Eastern Iowa.
