Chick-fil-A is crowing like a rooster after an industry magazine named the privately held Atlanta fast-food chain the best overall drive-through in America for 2002.

The honor was bestowed last week by QSR Magazine, which graded fast-food restaurants on speed, order accuracy, speaker clarity and menu appearance.

Wendy's, Taco Bell, McDonald's and Burger King rounded out the top five overall ranking.

Mark Hundemer, the general manager of the Chick-fil-A off State Road 70 in east Manatee County, said tiptop drive-through service is important because 60 percent of any given day's revenues come from customers who don't leave their cars.

"Drive-through will probably become even bigger in the future," he said. "It really does epitomize fast food."

Hundemer said the restaurant tries to complete all transactions in 2 minutes.

With an average service time clocked at 2 minutes and 51 seconds, QSR said only Wendy's was faster than Chick-fil-A. But the chicken chain managed better accuracy and clarity scores than the burger chain.

Magazine predicts top toys

Toy Wishes magazine, a parents' shopping guide for hip gifts for youngsters, last week unveiled its "Hot Dozen" list of toys for this holiday season. In alphabetical order, they were:
