When this face-down Defense Position card is attacked by your opponent's monster, you can take 1 opponent's monster (except the attacking monster) be attacked instead. While this card is face-up on the field, you can Special Summon 1 "La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp" from your hand.
[Seto Kaiba is known for dueling with rare and powerful cards, and "Ancient Lamp" is no exception. Its special powers go beyond Summoning "La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp."
The perfect card to use against a "Cyber Dragon" Duelist! and then Summon another monster, their plan is to have "Cyber Dragon" destroy your monster then attack directly with monster #2. Nothing will surprise them more than when your face-down monster turns out to be "Ancient Lamp." Now their "Cyber Dragon" will attack, and most likely destroy, their second monster!
"Ancient Lamp" needs to be face-down to deflect your opponent's attack, which means you can normally only use it once. Enter "Book of Moon" (from Dark Revelation 1) or "Ready for Interception"(from the new starter Deck). When your opponent attacks your face-up "Ancient Lamp," just activate one of these cards to turn the Lamp face-down. Now the attack will be deflected back at your opponent's monster!
Special Summoning "La Jinn" is great for getting another attacker, but even better for Tribute Summoning. Your "Ancient Lamp" will deflect the first attack at it, so it should be around for your next turn. That's when your Special Summon "La Jinn." Now you can Tribute the Genie and the Lamp to Summon a powerful monster like "Blue-Eyes White Dragon"! "La Jinn" is a Fiend so if you can Special Summon three of them you can Tribute them all to Special Summon "Raviel, Lord of Phantasms"(from Shadow of Infinity)!
Since "Ancient Lamp" is WIND, it will also work well with a new monster from Enemy of Justice which will be available this coming May!]
